halloween baking

I decided to try some ideas out from the cupcake book "What's New Cupcake" with my daughter for some Halloween fun.
We first made the pumpkin cupcakes for her kindergarten class. (After all the work we put into these, this is the only picture I took. Oh, well.) I couldn't find the green licorice in the picture so we improvised with green fondant.
Then, when we got home we had so many cupcakes leftover, we decided to make some owls. Using chocolate icing, mini oreos, and Reeces Pieces we made some cute little owls. Almost too cute to eat. :)

Wizard of Oz

I was asked to make a Wizard of Oz cake for a 4 year old's birthday party. I was really happy with the way it turned out...the only thing I wished I could have had to time to sculpt was the Wizard of Oz characters. There were so many details to this cake I didn't have time..actually I was still adding to the cake when the doorbell rang for it to be picked up!

My favorite part of the cake :)

Monkey Baby Shower Cake

I was asked to make a baby shower cake for a childhood friend of mine. The cake was supposed to coordinate with the invitation. I couldn't wait to get started. This was such a fun cake to make and I was really pleased with the way it turned out...tasted good too! :)
